The pregnant pause

The wooden bench,
Sitting pretty in the same park,
Shaded by the same tree,
Autumn leaves lay all around
Some floating in the gentle breeze
Evoking memories, so sweet, so profound,
The sun rays sparkling like gold trinkets,
The breeze humming a tune,
Melodious like she used to sing,
It’s been a decade,
My feelings are fluttering all over the place,
Like butterflies lost in a maze,
Footsteps forced me to gaze,
She cascaded towards me,
Like a goddess answering the prayers
Left me speechless in wonder,
Suddenly the environment burst with laughter,
Crystal clear, like the maiden river,
I followed the music
Looked behind her
To find her lookalike
Her childhood- revisited
Her daughter, her pride!
Everything around us
Lay dreadfully quiet,
Like death pondering on what to do next?
The only cause
That lingered around
Was the pregnant pause!
